How do you make a protein shake using this protein powder?
Mix two tablespoons of Ekopura Whey Natural Organic (25 grams) with 250 ml of water, milk or a plant-based drink in a shaker or blender.
Shake or blend until the shake is creamy. There is no measuring spoon included in the bag; two level tablespoons make one serving, and a separate stainless steel measuring spoon is available to buy in our online shop. The contains naturally occurring sugars powder contains 2 grams of sugar per serving, which is lactose from the milk. Does Ekopura Whey Natural Organic contain allergens?
Yes, Ekopura Whey Natural Organic contains milk and therefore lactose, the only one of the fourteen allergens that must be declared under EU regulations.
Whey is a protein derived from milk, so milk is not an added ingredient here but is the product itself. Each 25-gram serving contains 2 grams of lactose. If you have a cow’s milk allergy or are lactose intolerant, please consult your doctor or dietitian, or take a look at our plant-based protein powders; these do not contain milk.
Is this a whey concentrate or a whey isolate, and how is the whey heated?
Ekopura Whey Natural Organic is a whey protein concentrate (WPC 80), not a whey isolate, and the milk is heated only briefly and gently during production.
An isolate contains more protein per 100 grams, but requires an additional processing step after filtration (ultrafiltration). This powder undergoes only that one step, resulting in 80 grams of protein per 100 grams.
The milk is heated briefly and then held at 60 degrees for 15 to 20 seconds, after which it cools down again. The proteins do not denature at that temperature: their structure remains intact.
What makes this protein powder organic, and where does the milk come from?
Ekopura Whey Natural Organic is an organic protein powder, made from milk sourced from certified organic dairy farms in southern Germany and the Alpine region.
In this context, ‘organic’ means that the milk and the end product comply with European regulations on organic farming: which, amongst other things, exclude genetically modified raw materials: and are monitored by a recognised certification body. The certification number on the packaging is NL-BIO-01. It contains just one ingredient, with no artificial flavourings, colourings or preservatives. How are the cows that give our milk kept?
Our milk comes from dairy farms in southern Germany and the Alpine region, where the cows go outside as soon as the weather and the ground allow. On top of the European welfare rules that apply to all dairy cattle, they get at least 60% roughage in their daily ration (grass, hay or silage), feed that largely comes from the farm itself or from the region, and a dry lying area with straw or other suitable natural bedding on a solid floor.
Whey, casein or plant-based protein: which do you choose?
Ekopura Whey Natural Organic, Casein Organic and the plant-based protein powders all provide protein; the difference lies in the source, protein content and flavour.
Whey and casein both come from milk: this whey is 80% protein, whilst our Casein Organic is 78%. Plant-based protein powders contain no milk and are therefore suitable for vegans; Vegan Protein Organic, made from broad beans, is 84% protein. If you’re unsure, this whey is incredibly versatile: no flavour has been added, so you can flavour it yourself.
Whey protein during pregnancy, whilst breastfeeding or for children: what should you bear in mind?

Store Ekopura Whey Natural Organic tightly closed at room temperature, out of direct sunlight and out of reach of children.
We guarantee a minimum shelf life of twelve months. You will find the best-before date at the bottom of the packaging. It does not need to go in the fridge, a dry kitchen cupboard is fine. Close the pouch properly after every use so that no moisture can get in: moisture makes the powder clump.
