What is whey protein used for?

Is it a whey protein concentrate or an isolate?

Ekopura whey is a protein concentrate (WPC 80). Making a whey isolate, which raises the protein content by about 10%, requires an additional process that removes substances naturally present in the whey, such as vitamins, minerals, lactoferrin and immunoglobulins. That is why we treat the whey as little as possible and use only WPC 80.

Is this product certified organic?

No. The products certified organic are Whey Natural Organic, Casein Organic, Vegan Protein Organic, Vitamin C Acerola Organic and Organic Matcha Powder. Their packaging carries the EU organic production logo with the code NL-BIO-01. Ekopura itself is inspected by Skal Biocontrole. This product is not on the certificate, so we do not call it organic.

What exactly is in it?

Three ingredients: whey protein concentrate (WPC 80), cacao powder (6.6% according to the label) and a sweetener (steviol glycosides from stevia). No artificial flavours or colours, no preservatives, no soy. The full label is on the pack.

How much protein and how much sugar is in a serving?

A 25 g serving provides 19 g of protein and 1.4 g of sugars. Per 100 g that is 76 g of protein and 5.6 g of sugars. No sugars are added. Contains naturally occurring sugars, lactose from the milk. A 500 g pack holds 20 servings.

How do I mix the shake?

Mix 25 g, roughly two tablespoons, with water, milk or a plant-based drink. In a shaker or with a whisk the powder dissolves faster than with a spoon. The taste is smooth cacao. Since February 2025 we supply protein powder without a plastic scoop; a stainless steel scoop is sold separately.
