Take one or two Ekopura Omega 3 DHA+EPA capsules a day, with a meal and plenty of water; there is no set time of day.
It doesn’t matter whether you take them with breakfast or dinner, as long as you take the capsules every day. With 90 capsules per pack, one capsule a day will last 90 days, or two capsules a day will last 45 days.
Can I take omega-3 and magnesium together, and what else can you combine them with?
Yes, you can take Ekopura Omega 3 DHA+EPA alongside magnesium, and with all other Ekopura products; please adhere to the recommended daily intake for each product.
These include magnesium, vitamin D3 and our protein powders; our products do not overlap. Ekopura Omega 3 DHA+EPA contains algae oil (Schizochytrium sp.), mixed tocopherols, the antioxidants rosemary extract and ascorbyl palmitate, and a capsule made from glycerine, modified pea starch (GMO-free) and carrageenan.
That’s all there is to it: no fish or fish oil, and no iodine. The tocopherols, rosemary extract and ascorbyl palmitate are included to keep the oil fresh, and the capsule shell is plant-based. You can find out how fresh the oil is by reading the section on the Totox value.
Why choose omega-3 from algae rather than fish oil?
Omega-3 algae oil provides the same omega-3 fatty acids, DHA and EPA, as fish oil, straight from the source: fish obtain their DHA and EPA from algae.
Algae are therefore the original source of DHA and EPA. The algae used in Ekopura Omega 3 DHA+EPA are cultivated in a closed system, free from external influences. This makes this omega-3 plant-based: an alternative to fish oil containing the same fatty acids, but without fish. The capsule is also plant-based: made from modified pea starch, glycerine and carrageenan from seaweed, not from animal gelatine. What is the difference between omega-3 DHA and EPA?
DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) are two omega-3 fatty acids; each Ekopura Omega 3 DHA+EPA capsule contains 210 mg of DHA and 70 mg of EPA.
The DHA content is therefore three times that of EPA (EPA:DHA ratio of 1:3). The EU health claims vary depending on the fatty acid: one applies to EPA and DHA combined, and two apply to DHA alone; the exact wording can be found under the section on the benefits of omega-3. Store Ekopura Omega 3 DHA+EPA in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of the reach of children. On delivery, the capsules have a shelf life of at least 12 months, often longer; the use-by date is printed on the packaging.
