Protein shakes, what do you pay attention to?

Protein shakes what to look out for?

Last week Jessica from Eat.Run.Love we published an informative article about protein shakes and what to look out for when buying them. Below are the main points of the article.

WHAT KIND OF PROTEIN SHAKE DO YOU CHOOSE?

You can divide proteins into two groups; animal or plant proteins. Probably an open door, but animal proteins come from animals (think meat, fish, milk and eggs) while plant proteins come from legumes, grains and nuts. As you could read in the previous article, proteins consist of 20 amino acids. Some of them the body can make itself, and some of them you have to get from food.

Animal protein generally contains more essential amino acids than vegetable protein and thus has a higher quality, also expressed in biological value. The biological value indicates to what extent your body benefits from the ingested protein. The higher the biological value, the better your body and muscles absorb the protein. An exception is soy protein, which does have a high biological value.

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR WHEN BUYING A PROTEIN SHAKE?

I understand that you can't see the forest for the trees with the amount of protein shake providers. If you want to buy protein from an online store, always check the ingredients list carefully. Good protein is expensive, you will see that the cheaper proteins are full of added sugar and sweeteners. Therefore, I personally prefer to take an organic protein. Yes, it is more expensive, but you know for sure that you are getting good quality protein.

It is also good to pay attention to the amount of protein per scoop, as this also varies. Also, be careful with flavors; "cookies & cream", geheid that there are extra sweeteners and flavorings added. You can also make your own shakes very tasty with for example a dash of coconut oil, vanilla powder, cinnamon etc. As you can see, there is quite a bit of difference.

If you want the best quality and are willing to pay for it, I would definitely go for EkoPura . This way you can be sure that you are dealing with an organic and natural product with the highest quality proteins. Available from both animal and plant sources.
