The power of Casein!

Casein is very popular and that is for good reasons. Casein is also known as slow protein or bed time protein. Over a period of up to 7 hours it will provide the body with a constant and balanced amount of amino acids. There is no other type of protein supplement that can compare to that.

When you do sports on a regular basis it is very important to provide thebody with a constant flow of protein and amino acids. In this article we will discuss the power of Caseinand next to that we selected two delicious casein protein recipes for you. Read all about it.

What is Casein?

Both casein and whey are derived from cows milk. In total cows milk contains 3% protein. 80% of which is casein and 20% of which is whey. Casein and whey both contain all essential amino acids, amino acids that the body cannot produce by itself.

Because casein is present in milk it automatically also is included in many other products like yoghurt, quark, cheese, different sorts of bakery products and baby food.

Slow Proteins

As indicated above the big advantage of casein over other proteins is the slow absorbtion by the body. After the consumption of casein or casein containing products the body has a constant higher amino acid level for a period of up to seven hours. Which is perfect for muscle recovery or muscle growth or retention. Next to that casein contains high levels of calcium as well as phosphate which makes it easier for the body to absorb these minerals.

Burning Calories

An important fact is that the body needs to make quite an effort to digest caein. The body will need to work hard and this process in itself already makes sure the body burns calories and increase the metabolism. Next to that casein also creates a feeling of satiety which is good to prevent cravings for unnecessary snacking. On top of that casein is also very low in calories and very low in fat content.

Good for you teeth, muscle power and loosing weight

But that is not all. Casein has some more advantages. Casein is great for your teeth and bone strength, it helps to increase muscle power in combination with training and it helps you to loose weight and become more toned. Perfect if you want to loose those winter pounds.

How do you use casein?

If you would like to spend as less time as possible just mix it into a shake with water or milk. If you have a bit more time use it as an ingredient to create delicious and healthy smoothies with fresh fruit in blender, ready in no time. If you are not a fan of shakes and smoothies you can also use it for baking. For instance protein bars, muffins, cookies etc. for that healthy bight in the evening or before going to bed. You can make healthy versions of your favorite snacks that will provide your body with protein throughout the night. They will help you to reach your training goals in no time.

The usual casein proteins on the market often make use of misleading information, artificial and chemical additives, flavorings and colourants.
